UnWine on Almeda is a relaxing and casual wine bar offering robust wines, delicious food from Flite Kitchen and great conversation. Centrally located near the Museum District and the campuses of Texas Southern and the University of Houston, UnWine should be your new Wine Down Wednesday spot!
UnWine on Almeda was a featured wine Bar during Houston’s Black Restaurant Week and has been on my list of “hot spots” ever since. The food and wine here are just two of the many reasons you should visit. They’ve recently incorporated a roof top patio bar, where guests can sit and enjoy the sun, pretty blue skies and the occasional honking of horns from the busy Almeda strip.
My recent visit consisted of trying a few of Chef Chase’s healthy and hearty dishes along with some of UnWine’s fantastic array of wines. The salads are so delicious, and massive. When delivered to our table the host suggested I get an extra plate to share it with someone. I declined, and finished the entire salad on my own!
Marinated Kale Salad
Chef Chase’s kale Salads are made fresh in house, daily. Actually, all of the items on the menu are made fresh. I ordered the Marinated kale salad. The crunchy kale is tossed in smokey raspberry, espresso vinaigrette and topped with infused cranberries, carrots and almonds. Absolutely perfect.
Another outstanding menu item is the Artichoke dip. It’s made with collard greens instead of spinach and topped with six different cheeses. The dish is finished with a sprinkling of cumin, paprika and Cayenne pepper and baked. The spread is served with crispy toast points that are perfect for dipping.

I was not expecting the greatness that IS UnWine on Almeda. From the moment I walked in the door I was greeted, offered a couple samples of wines to try prior to making my choice, escorted to the amazing rooftop patio and never had to refill my glass once! If you are looking for a wine bar that is centrally located, with great service and a solid variety of wines to choose from, UnWine on Almeda is your spot. Tell Sha-Ron and McQueen we said hello!
